Moving Electronics
Packing electronics is very important. If you are doing the packing please be sure to pack your electronics safely in a sturdy box with padding so they will be safe on the trip. There are special boxes for flat screens that can be purchased to help protect them.
Moving Long Distance
Moving long distances can be tricky. When moving long distances the driver will not be aware of the road conditions 100s of miles from the home you are leaving. In this case it leaves more time for items to shift and rub, so be sure your belongings are packed properly. If you will be driving to your new destination be sure to secure furniture and pad it well. If possible check your load when making stops. Sometimes small adjustments can prevent damage.
Moving With Children
Children are very curious and in most cases love to help. They also can get very emotional during a move. Giving them responsibilities prior to your move will help them feel like part of the process. Packing away their toys and deciding which ones they want to give to other families is a good way to help get rid of some of their clutter. Most of the time when the movers are present it is fine to have your kids present but please keep an eye on them to make sure they stay off of the truck and out of harms way.
Moving With Pets
Pets are fun. Movers know that you love your pets. Many movers have pets of their own. Your pet may be harmless but it is still a good idea to have your pets stowed away so that they will not get trampled while moving is occurring. It is also a good practice of giving the movers a heads up as to if you have animals such as cats or dogs, some movers may be allergic to certain animals.
